Description

Job Title: Travel Labor & Delivery (L&D) Registered Nurse – Days or Nights

Job Description: Malone Healthcare is seeking an experienced, highly adaptable Travel L&D Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract at a premier, Baby-Friendly designated hospital. This high-acuity unit features 12 labor beds, a dedicated 6-bed OB Emergency Room, and an in-house Neonatologist and OB Hospitalist team available 24/7.

Position Highlights:

  • Specialty: Labor & Delivery (L&D) RN
  • Shifts Available: 12-Hour Days (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) or 12-Hour Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
  • Schedule: 36 hours per week; includes every other weekend (EOW) and holiday rotation.
  • Duration: 13 weeks

Unit Dynamics & Care Model:

  • Volume: Averaging 150–200 births per month.
  • Ratios: Strictly follows AWHONN staffing guidelines.
  • Unit Layout: 12 Labor beds, 5 Antepartum beds, 6 OB Triage/ER beds, and 2 dedicated OR suites.
  • Surgical Scope: C-sections, cerclages, and tubals are performed directly on the unit. Dedicated OR/OB techs scrub for surgeries and assist with vaginal deliveries.

Position Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent L&D specialty experience REQUIRED.
  • Travel History: Prior travel experience is strictly required (no first-time travelers).
  • Systems: Proficiency with Meditech EMR and OB Trace FHM systems is highly preferred.
  • Certifications: Current AHA BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced EFM certification.
  • Geographic Constraint: Permanent residence must be 72+ miles away from the facility to qualify (strict radius rule enforced).

Floating & Orientation:

Travelers will receive 2 full shifts of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor. Must be willing to float to the Postpartum unit as needed based on census. Hospital scrubs are provided on-site.
