Job Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Duration: July 19, 2026 – October 17, 2026
Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3x12s)

Position Summary
We are seeking experienced Medical Surgical Registered Nurses (RNs) to join a busy 36-bed Medical Surgical Unit. This fast-paced unit provides comprehensive care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients requiring medical and surgical hospitalization. Nurses will care for a diverse patient population and must be comfortable managing varying patient assignments while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Unit Overview
The Medical Surgical Unit specializes in caring for patients with:
- General Surgery
- Colorectal Surgery
- Abdominal Surgeries
- Mastectomy & Thyroidectomy Procedures
- Urology & Uro-Gynecology
- Gynecologic Oncology
- Women's Health
- Plastic Surgery
- ENT Procedures
- Trauma Patients
- Cardiothoracic Cases
- Orthopedic & Spine/Neuro Overflow
- Obstetrical Complications, including:
- Hyperemesis
- Preeclampsia
- Intra-Uterine Fetal Demise (IUFD)
- Substance Abuse Withdrawal During Pregnancy
- Diabetic Pregnancies
Patient Ratio: 1:5–6
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for medical and surgical patients.
- Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes in clinical status.
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with physician orders.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.
- Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and patient care management.
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Float to other appropriate units as required.
- Maintain compliance with organizational policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Medical Surgical nursing experience.
- Recent Epic EMR experience within the last 12 months (must be reflected on the resume).
- Current BLS Certification (AHA).
- Current ACLS Certification.
- Current NIH Stroke Scale Certification.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, assessment, and critical-thinking skills.
