Job Title: Travel Physical Therapist – Acute Care
Assignment Details
- Location: Urbana, Illinois
- Duration: 13 Weeks
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Weekly Hours: 40 (guaranteed)
- Setting: Acute Care / Inpatient Rehabilitation
- Position Type: Travel (Clinical-Allied)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Physical Therapist to join a dynamic acute care team within a large Level 1 Trauma Center environment. This role includes inpatient rehabilitation and acute caseload responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on neurological and complex patient populations.
Clinical Environment
- Inpatient rehab unit with approximately 20 beds
- Patient population includes:
- Neurological cases (CVA, TBI, non-traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury)
- Lower extremity amputations
- Multi-trauma and medically complex cases
- Acute therapy caseload collaboration across disciplines
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Evaluate and treat patients across the lifespan, modifying care plans as needed
- Develop individualized plans of care, including goals, interventions, and discharge planning
- Perform comprehensive patient examinations using appropriate clinical methods
- Determine physical therapy diagnoses and expected outcomes
- Adjust treatment plans based on patient progress and evidence-based practices
Clinical Duties
- Perform safe patient transfers and demonstrate proper body mechanics
- Utilize standardized outcome measures to assess functional performance
- Deliver interventions that address functional, emotional, and rehabilitation needs
- Monitor and guide support personnel in accordance with legal and ethical standards
- Communicate patient progress and recommendations clearly with the interdisciplinary team
Education & Collaboration
- Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members
- Provide supervision and direction to Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) and rehab technicians
- Act as a clinical resource and role model for staff and students
- Collaborate with care teams to support discharge planning and post-acute needs
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete all documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards
- Ensure accurate, timely records aligned with the clinical process guidelines
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy (required)
Licensure & Certifications
- Active Illinois Physical Therapist (PT) License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
Experience
