Location: Urbana, Illinois
Assignment Dates: June 15, 2026 – September 12, 2026
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Duration: 13 weeks (89 days)
Employment Type: Travel
Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist (OT) to join an acute care team, primarily supporting NICU/Pediatric patient populations. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centered care while serving as a clinical resource for staff and students.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Evaluate and treat patients across the lifespan, with a focus on NICU and pediatric populations
- Develop individualized plans of care including goals, treatment approaches, expected outcomes, and discharge planning
- Modify treatment plans based on patient response and evidence-based practice
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments using appropriate examination and screening techniques
- Establish diagnoses and determine therapy outcomes based on clinical findings
Patient & Family Engagement
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers using effective teaching strategies
- Collaborate with patients and families throughout the rehabilitation process
- Provide training and guidance to support continuity of care post-discharge
Documentation & Compliance
- Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress, and outcomes according to regulatory and organizational standards
- Utilize standardized outcomes measures to ensure accurate tracking of patient progress
Team Collaboration & Leadership
- Communicate patient status, progress, and discharge recommendations with the interdisciplinary care team
- Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and rehabilitation technicians
- Monitor delegated care and provide feedback to support staff development
Safety & Operations
- Demonstrate proper body mechanics and safe patient handling techniques
- Assist with patient transfers as needed (bed, chair, floor)
- Utilize support personnel appropriately within legal and ethical guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy
- Active Illinois Occupational Therapist (OT) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA)
- NICU and/or PICU experience required
- Acute care and inpatient experience required
Preferred Skills
- Strong clinical reasoning and adaptability in a fast-paced acute care environment
- Effective communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Experience with pediatric and neonatal rehabilitation
