Overview
A critical‑access facility in Chamberlain, SD is seeking an experienced Travel Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee all nursing operations across multiple departments. This high‑impact leadership role requires a seasoned nursing executive who can manage diverse clinical teams, ensure regulatory compliance, and actively participate in patient care when needed.
This position oversees approximately 80 nursing staff and supports a wide range of clinical areas, including ER, Med‑Surg, OR, OB, Critical Care, Trauma, Cardiac Rehab, and Respiratory.

Position Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and daily oversight for all nursing departments
- Ensure high‑quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency
- Participate directly in patient care as needed across multiple units
- Lead staffing, scheduling, performance management, and team development
- Collaborate with executive leadership, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
- Oversee quality initiatives, patient safety programs, and clinical standards
- Support trauma, emergency, surgical, and inpatient workflows
- Maintain a strong presence on the floor to support staff and patient needs

Requirements
- Minimum 7 years of experience as a Director of Nursing
- ACLS, BLS, NRP, and TNCC – all required
- Proven leadership experience in multi‑department hospital settings
- Ability to manage and support a large nursing workforce (80 direct reports)
- Strong clinical background with the ability to assist in ER, Med‑Surg, OR, OB, Critical Care, Trauma, Cardiac Rehab, and Respiratory
- Excellent communication, organizational, and decision‑making skills
