Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Telemetry (Nights)

Location: Lima, Ohio
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours per Day: 12


Job Description

  • Responsible and accountable for patient care during assigned shifts.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using age-specific criteria.
  • Make clinical judgments based on scientific knowledge and skills.
  • Assist in planning, directing, and teaching non-RN staff such as LPNs, PCTs, and Unit Secretaries.
  • Expected to float to units within scope of practice and skill set; refusal to float may result in being sent home without pay for the week.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Competent with cardiac medications including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Heparin, Cardine, Dobutamine, Lasix, Bumex, with knowledge of titration and application.
  • Proficient in telemetry and knowledgeable about heart rhythms.
  • Strong critical thinking skills; able to recognize and intervene upon changes in patient status.
  • Knowledgeable about signs and symptoms of stroke and able to intervene appropriately.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Active Ohio RN license (Ohio or Compact) verified through Nursys.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS certification.
  • Skills checklist current to within 1 year, pertinent to Med Surg/Telemetry specialty.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality for all assigned shifts.

  • Bed count on unit: 26
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 4/5:1
  • Dress code: Navy Blue
  • Electronic Medical Record system: MediTech
  • Nonbillable hours: 8 hours per week
  • Overtime, holiday, and callback shifts compensated at 1.25x regular rates
