Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia after surgical and procedural interventions.
• Perform comprehensive post-operative assessments, including airway, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological status.
• Manage pain, nausea, and other post-anesthesia complications.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and emergency interventions as ordered.
• Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygenation, and level of consciousness.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.
• Provide occasional support with vasoactive medications (e.g., Neo-Synephrine/pressors).
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Educate patients and families regarding post-operative care and recovery expectations.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Float between Pre-Op and PACU as needed.
• Participate in on-call coverage and weekend call rotations.

Requirements

• Active RN license (Massachusetts license required).
• Minimum 2 years of recent Pre-Op/PACU experience.
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

• Experience caring for post-anesthesia and surgical patients.
