Description

Job Title: Travel MedSurg RN – Days

Location: Insert Facility Name / City, State
Unit: 1W MedSurg & 2E MedSurg
Shift: 12-hour days, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Schedule: Weekends as scheduled (EOW – Sat/Sun, plus 2 Fridays per schedule)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Position Overview

We're seeking a compassionate and adaptable MedSurg RN for a 13-week travel assignment. You'll float between two all-private MedSurg units (28 beds and 29 beds) with a supportive team and a strong orientation process. This role offers self-scheduling and blocked scheduling flexibility.

Key Details

  • Ratios: 1:6–7
  • Certifications Required: BLS (AHA)
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Scrub Color: Navy blue (jackets must also be navy blue)
  • Orientation: 1 shift with a preceptor

Patient Population

  • 1W: Post-surgical and ortho patients
  • 2E: MedSurg, pneumonia, dialysis, palliative care, hospice, end-of-life, and low-volume inpatient chemo (administered by director/manager only). COVID patients are housed on a separate hallway within this unit. You may be assigned to both "clean" and "dirty" patients during the same shift — comfort with this is required.

Clinical Notes

  • Tele: Remote tele monitoring (no unit monitors; monitored by 3rd-floor tech). Nurses do not read strips.
  • Drips: Heparin and MSO4 (comfort measures only); no cardiac gtts.
  • Vents: BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen — all managed by RT.
  • Support Staff: 2 CNAs per unit on days (no CNAs on nights). Charge nurse does not take patients unless census exceeds 24.
