Description

Schedule & Requirements

  • Shift: 12-Hour Nights
  • Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours/week
  • Contract Length: 103 days
  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted with 2+ years of experience
  • Floating: May float to General PCU, MS/Tele, or ICU (within scope)
  • Parking: Free parking
  • Distance Requirement: Must live more than 100 miles from any Monument Health facility

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1.5 years of general nursing experience
  • Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
  • Experience with:
    • Post-cardiac catheterization recovery
    • CABG/TAVR patients
    • Post-open heart surgery patients
    • Cardiac rhythm interpretation
    • Heparin drips
    • Chest tube management
    • Cardiac and vasoactive drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, Dopamine)

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
  • South Dakota RN License (or eligibility)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide care for mixed-acuity PCU, Telemetry, and Med-Surg patients.
  • Monitor and manage cardiac patients including MI, NSTEMI, STEMI, CHF, dysrhythmias, and pacemaker-related conditions.
  • Care for post-cardiac cath, post-TAVR, post-CABG, and post-vascular procedure patients.
  • Administer and monitor titratable cardiac and vasoactive drips.
  • Interpret cardiac rhythms and telemetry strips.
  • Manage chest tubes and heparin infusions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, telemetry technicians, and ancillary staff.
  • Float to comparable units as needed.
  • May be required to precept nursing students.
