Description

Schedule & Requirements

  • Position: PCU/IMC Float Pool RN
  • Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
  • Contract Length: 13 Weeks
  • Floating Required: Yes – must float throughout Zone 1 facilities:
    • Penrose Hospital
    • St. Francis Medical Center
    • St. Francis InterQuest
    • St. Mary Corwin
    • St. Thomas More
  • Scheduling: Facility-created schedule released 4–6 weeks in advance
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Radius Rule: 60 miles (Driver's License required for verification)

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/IMC experience
  • Experience managing:
    • Cardiac drips
    • Insulin drips
    • Ativan drips
    • Heparin drips
  • Comfortable with:
    • Titrating vasoactive medications
    • Cardiac monitoring and telemetry
    • Stepdown/Progressive Care patient management
  • Preferred:
    • Neuro experience
    • Epic experience

Required Certifications

  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS (AHA)
  • NIHSS
  • Active RN License

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide care for PCU/IMC patients across multiple specialty units.
  • Monitor and manage patients with cardiac, neuro, oncology, renal, orthopedic, trauma, surgical, and medical diagnoses.
  • Titrate and manage:
    • Dopamine
    • Dobutamine
    • Cardizem
    • Amiodarone
    • Insulin
    • Heparin
    • Ativan
  • Perform continuous telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia assessment.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.
  • Float between multiple facilities and units based on staffing needs.
  • Care for low-acuity ICU holds when assigned within skill set.
  • Support patient care in PCU, Stepdown, and Med-Surg Telemetry environments.
