Job Title RN - Peds
Contract 13 Week With High possibility of Extention
Location Charlotte, NC 28203
About Facility:
Travelers will work in one of the (2) specialty areas, based on job posting:
Peds Nephrology:
15 exam rooms; 7 MD's/ 1 APP; up to 25 patients per day
Outpatient Clinic
13 different specialties – 55 exam rooms
Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
Department Information:
Required Experience: 2 years of acute care Pediatrics experience; ambulatory clinic experience is strongly preferred but is not required
Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
Constipation, Reflux, G-tubes – care/changes/feedings, IBD, Crohn's, Colitis, motility disorders, TPN dependent patients
Liver patients – Pre/Post Liver Transplant, Fatty Liver Disease
Pre/Post Kidney Transplant, CKD, adrenal diseases, Osteogenesis Imperfecta, dialysis treatment (inpatient) that are being seen as follow up
Ages – majority of population is newborn to age 18; can see up to college graduation
Travelers will work in one of the (2) areas, based on job posting (please only discuss applicable specialty during interview):
Peds Nephrology:
Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
RN: BLS
Skills required:
Peds Nephrology - (UA), spinning down of the urine and plating on to microscopic slide, Rapid Strep, Flu/COVID testing
EPIC experience (highly preferred); port access, CVL draws, Rooming of patients and departure education following provider visit
POC testing –
General Assessment skills
RX refill using standing orders, will not be expected to work in Triage but may assist peer RNs with form completion
May assist with giving vaccines/injectable medications to patients as well as biologic injectables – could be taught if interested in learning but not required exp
Support within the Department:
Front Desk Attendant
Clinical Leadership – Nurse Manager and (3) Clinical Supervisors (staffing and day to day ops)
Clerical Leadership
Program Manager – development and growth of program/billing/non-clinical operations
Peer RNs
MA's – assist with rooming and POC testing – floated between specialties
Lab on site for phlebotomy (RN will draw off central lines)
Live Answer Team – assistance with patient calls and messaging to teams
Radiology on site
Dietician
Social Worker
Technology/Equipment:
EMR: EPIC
Omnicell (injections/vaccines)
Floating:

Orientation (facility and unit):
badge pickup and EPIC orientation for Ambulatory RNs
Skills Optimization (2 days to include class and demonstration/check off)
NEO – off site
On-site Orientation period would be based on skillset and comfort level (up to 2 weeks)
Scheduling:
Monday-Friday, 8a-5p
Weekend rotation: none
No call
Holiday Expectations: closed on major holidays
RTO: Manager approval
Schedule cycle: given week before contract starts
