JOB DESCRIPTION
RN - ED
● About Facility:
·
· Not Trauma designated – trauma patients transferred to CMC Main after stabilization
· Not a Teaching hospital
· Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
● Unit Information:
· Beds: 34 beds/32 vertical care areas
· Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years ED RN experience
· Will you accept a first-time traveler: not preferred, will consider
● Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
· This ED sees on average 200+ patients per day – very busy, fast paced, acute unit
· All ages
· Heavy trauma stabilization - GSW, stabbings; Heavy mental health/homeless/drug and ETOH addicted population
· All typical ED diagnoses – Stroke, Respiratory illness, chest pain, abdominal pain, DM/DKA, etc.
● Patient Ratios:
· RN: Variable but typically 1:4
· LPN: Variable but typically 1:4
· CNA: 1:20
● Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
· BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI (required)
· TNCC (preferred)
● Skills required:
· To care for adult and pediatric patients experiencing medical emergencies
· General ED Skillset to include but not limited to - Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation
● Support within the Department:
· CNA
· Receptionist
· Charge nurse
● Technology/Equipment:
· EMR: EPIC
· IV Pump: Alaris
· Med dispensing: Omnicell
· Monitors: Phillips
● Floating:
· Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
· Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, any Freestanding ED within Region, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)
· If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
● Orientation (facility and unit):
· NEO
· 2 days departmental
● Scheduling:
· Weekend rotation: every other
· No call required
· Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
· RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
· Shift times: varies – shift will be on requisition
· Schedule cycle: 6 weeks
