Description
Registered Nurse (Rehab) - Travel Position
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care in a 49-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation facility specializing in stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic injuries, and other conditions requiring inpatient rehab.
- The unit functions similarly to a medical-surgical unit with high acuity patients.
- Patient ratio is approximately 1:7.
- Use of EPIC electronic health record system.
- Equipment includes mobility aids (ceiling lifts, Sara Stedy, Sara Plus, slide boards), vital sign machines, EKG, blood glucose monitors, and computers for charting.
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend and holiday rotations required
- Call requirements apply
- Mandatory 30-minute unpaid break and two 15-minute paid breaks per 12-hour shift
- Staff must adhere to attendance and tardy policies
- No overtime without supervisor approval
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a rehabilitation setting
- Experience in medical-surgical nursing
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Additional Information
- No float requirements currently, but may be required to float to a satellite inpatient rehab facility within 20 minutes in the future
- Nurses expected to assist with patient safety tasks including helping CNAs and answering call lights
- Orientation dates available throughout 2026 (January through December)
- Local candidates will not be accepted for this travel assignment
