Position Details

• Position: Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA)
• Department: Operating Room (OR)
• Contract Length: 13 Weeks
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week

• Shift: 12-Hour Days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)

   

Schedule & Call Requirements

• 3 x 12-hour day shifts
• Weekend schedule: Friday/Saturday/Sunday
• Weeknight and weekend call rotation required
• Holiday call coverage as needed
• Call response time: 20 minutes
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling may be allowed based on unit needs

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of CSFA experience
• 2-3 previous travel assignments required
• Must be proficient in Orthopedic surgical assisting
• Orthopedic and Neuro experience preferred
• Ability to function in both CSFA and Surgical Tech roles when needed

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA)
• CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) – NBSTSA
• CSFA (Certified Surgical First Assistant) – NBSTSA
• Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Assistant Program
• ABSA certifications are NOT accepted

Key Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during surgical procedures
• Provide exposure, tissue handling, suturing, and hemostasis
• Support orthopedic, neuro, ENT, general surgery, total joint, and trauma-related procedures
• Maintain sterile technique and patient safety
• Assist with room turnover and OR preparation
• Float to outpatient surgery when required
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and OR staff
