Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room (ER)
 

Job Summary

The Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse (RN) provides rapid assessment, stabilization, and comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting with acute illnesses, traumatic injuries, and life-threatening emergencies. The RN is responsible for triaging patients, initiating emergency interventions, administering medications, monitoring patient conditions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care in a fast-paced emergency setting.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform rapid patient assessments and prioritize care using established triage protocols.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for patients with medical, surgical, traumatic, and behavioral emergencies.
  • Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, laboratory results, and patient responses to treatment.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and emergency treatments as prescribed.
  • Initiate and assist with emergency interventions, including Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), trauma resuscitation, airway management, and cardiac monitoring.
  • Assist physicians with emergency procedures such as intubation, conscious sedation, wound repair, fracture stabilization, chest tube insertion, and central line placement.
  • Recognize and respond quickly to changes in patient condition, including Code Blue and rapid response situations.
  • Collaborate with emergency physicians, trauma teams, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, radiology, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, follow-up care, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record (EMR) documentation.
  • Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and hospital policies and procedures.
