Travel Laboratory Technician (Lab Tech)

Location: Northern Cheyenne Service Unit – Lame Deer, Montana
Facility: Northern Cheyenne Service Unit (NCSU)
Position: Laboratory Technician (Lab Tech)
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks (July 20, 2026 – October 17, 2026)
Shift: 12-Hour Shifts | 36 Hours per Week (3 x 12s)
Start Date: July 20, 2026

Position Overview

The Northern Cheyenne Service Unit is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join its clinical laboratory team. The Lab Tech will perform routine and specialized laboratory testing to assist physicians and healthcare providers in diagnosing, treating, and preventing disease. The ideal candidate will have experience working in hospital or clinical laboratory environments and demonstrate a commitment to delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures.
  • Analyze blood, urine, body fluids, and other specimens using laboratory instrumentation.
  • Prepare, label, and process patient specimens while maintaining specimen integrity.
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Conduct quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure testing accuracy.
  • Report laboratory results promptly and accurately to healthcare providers.
  • Follow CLIA, CAP, OSHA, HIPAA, and facility safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and electronic medical records.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering laboratory supplies as needed.
  • Participate in proficiency testing and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related laboratory science.
  • Current certification as one of the following preferred:
    • MLT (ASCP)
    • MT (ASCP)
    • MLS (ASCP)
    • AMT or equivalent national certification
  • Minimum of one (1) year of recent clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Experience in hospital, acute care, or rural healthcare settings is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and infection prevention standards.
Must have MT license
