Description
Key Responsibilities – Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) | Crow/Northern Cheyenne Hospital | Crow Agency, MT 59022
- Perform moderate and high-complexity laboratory testing in hematology, clinical chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, serology, coagulation, and blood bank/transfusion services.
- Collect, process, and analyze patient specimens, ensuring proper specimen identification, handling, and integrity.
- Conduct venipuncture and capillary blood collection as needed to support patient testing and diagnostic services.
- Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory analyzers and equipment according to established procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform and document quality control (QC) and quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Review, verify, and accurately report laboratory findings in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Recognize, document, and promptly communicate critical values and abnormal results to providers and nursing staff.
- Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and laboratory safety standards.
- Manage laboratory inventory by monitoring supplies, reagents, and equipment needs and assisting with ordering and stocking activities.
- Participate in proficiency testing, competency assessments, and continuing education to maintain professional knowledge and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to support timely diagnosis and patient care.
- Provide patient-centered, culturally sensitive care while adhering to Indian Health Service (IHS) and facility-specific policies and procedures.
- Assist with laboratory workflow, prioritize testing based on patient acuity, and support emergency and inpatient laboratory services as needed.
Must have:
Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science
ASCP or AMT certification
BLS (AHA)
