Job Summary

Provides health care services by applying pulsed x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, computer processing, and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed independent practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Recognizes various patient conditions to provide appropriate care and ensure successful completion of each exam or procedure.

Job Responsibilities

• Assists the Coordinator with staff selection, training, and competency evaluations.
• Collaborates with Radiologists and management to establish exam protocols.
• Actively participates in training new employees on equipment functionality, exam protocols, and modifications.
• Provides supervision and instruction to imaging students during clinical rotations.
• Stays current on regulatory standards and changes.
• Verifies orders, patient name/date of birth, and relevant history prior to exams.
• Performs and documents peripheral venipuncture when necessary for exams.
• Documents all patient care incidents in the electronic health record (e.g., incident reports, medications administered, contrast reactions).
• Performs and documents time-out procedures for invasive procedures.
• Follows departmental protocol for all exams.
• Coordinates with transport and nursing units to facilitate patient exams.
• Continuously monitors patients throughout the exam.
• Applies radiation protection measures for patients and self, utilizing ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
• Assists Radiologists and authorized providers with exams as necessary.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum one (1) year of mammography diagnostic experience.
• Associate's degree from a JRCERT-accredited Radiology Program.
• Current ARRT Registry in Radiography — RT(R).
• Current Commonwealth Radiation License with the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
• Current BLS certification.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional eye-hand coordination.
• Ability to operate all equipment related to the position.
• High attention to detail and excellent customer service skills.
• Maintains continuing education hours as required by the licensing agency.
• Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Siemens IR equipment.
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system.
• Experience with AGFA EI PACS.
• Experience in a similar-size or larger hospital setting.
• Demonstrated experience and competency with IR and Hybrid procedures.
