Position Overview

San Carlos Apache Healthcare Center (SCAHC) is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Retail Supervisor to oversee daily retail pharmacy operations while ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and patient-centered pharmaceutical services. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of pharmacy regulations, and the ability to manage staff, workflow, inventory, and patient care in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the retail pharmacy and ensure efficient workflow.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and performance oversight to pharmacy staff.
• Ensure accurate dispensing of prescription medications in compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations.
• Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, drug interactions, and patient safety.
• Counsel patients on medication usage, dosage, potential side effects, and adherence.
• Manage medication inventory, ordering, storage, and controlled substance accountability.
• Maintain compliance with DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, Joint Commission, and other regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
• Develop and implement pharmacy policies, quality improvement initiatives, and operational procedures.
• Monitor pharmacy performance metrics and ensure exceptional customer service.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate pharmacy personnel while fostering a collaborative work environment.

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
• Active and unrestricted Pharmacist license.
• Previous supervisory or pharmacy management experience in a retail or hospital pharmacy setting.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in Tribal Health, Indian Health Service (IHS), or rural healthcare facilities.
• Experience with pharmacy management systems and electronic health records (EHR).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (preferred).
