Job Title: Travel Stepdown / PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – Days

Location: Henderson, KY (Evansville, IN Metro Area)

Job Description:

We are seeking a resilient, highly skilled Stepdown / Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse for a 13-week day-shift travel contract at Deaconess Henderson Hospital. If you are a seasoned travel nurse who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented teaching hospital environment and boasts top-tier critical thinking skills, this position is for you!

Facility Details & Unit Highlights:

• Facility: Deaconess Henderson Hospital (A smaller community teaching facility featuring excellent staff retention and strong teamwork)
• Unit Layout: SDU (10 beds) & Telemetry (15 beds)
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 to 1:5 on the Stepdown side | 1:5 to 1:6 on the Telemetry side
• Charting System: Epic EMR (Required)
• Dress Code: Solid Navy Blue scrubs (No agency or competing logos allowed)

Clinical Expectations & Scope:

• Manage high-acuity Stepdown and Telemetry patient populations exhibiting Sepsis, DKA, CHF, COPD, or recovering from major urology, abdominal, and orthopedic surgeries.
• Safely initiate and titrate critical unit drips, including Insulin, Heparin, and Cardiac infusions.
• Maintain clinical flexibility to float to sister regional campuses (Deaconess Newburgh and Deaconess Gateway) if an operational need arises (2-hour advanced notice provided).

Requirements:

• Minimum 2+ years of recent acute care experience including 1+ solid years of Stepdown/PCU focus.
• Must have at least 1 completed travel assignment (No first-time travelers).
• Active Compact RN License.
• Required Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Onboarding Competency: Must be prepared to pass a mandatory Telemetry Interpretation test and Epic check-off course prior to starting.
• Strict Radius Rule: Permanent tax address must be 40+ miles away from the Henderson campus.
• Strong team player with a resilient attitude towards shift transitions, scheduling, and occasional student precepting.
