Unit: 2nd Floor
 

Experience Required: 1 year Medsurg/Tele experience; will accept first time traveler.

Certs Required: BLS, NIHSS, ACLS preferred

Patient Types: Mostly geriatric patients,  Cardiac: CHF, chest pain obs. No Cath Lab on site. If patient needs cath, will be transferred to St. Luke’s MC., Neuro: seizure obs, stroke obs, TIA vs. stroke rule out, altered mental status, General Medical: COPD, respiratory/kidney/liver/GI issues.

Ratios: Days: 1:4-5,   Nights: 1:6-7, can go up to 1:8, but not common

Skills Required: Experience with above patient types, NG tube placement/management, foley placement/management, chest tube management, Pleurex and other drains, wound care, central line/ports/midline blood draws, cardiac rhythm interpretation. 
Drips (possible to titrate within set parameters): Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, insulin.

Floating: Could float and take patient assignment on other MedSurg units or anywhere in the hospital MedSurg patients are located, including ER hold, ICU, etc. Will only take a MedSurg patient assignment.
