Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Correctional Setting
Location

Work Schedule
- Day shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (includes 30-minute unpaid meal break)
- Alternating weekends
- 40 hours per week (5 days x 8 hours)
Job Summary
Provide nursing interventions and medication administration following a systematic problem-solving approach to deliver comprehensive nursing care compliant with regulatory standards in a juvenile correctional setting.
Facility Environment
- Juvenile correctional facility with approximately 44 youth residents
- Accredited by the American Correctional Association
- Business casual or scrubs dress code
- Free on-site parking
- No current vaccine mandates
- Supervision present during nursing care delivery
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain general medical inventory, including controlled substances
- Administer medications
- Assess and review health conditions of youth; prepare and evaluate nursing intervention plans
- Ensure nursing interventions align with comprehensive treatment plans
- Participate in staff trainings
- Prepare clinical and administrative reports
- Maintain infection control standards
- Collaborate as a member of the facility’s medical treatment team
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum of 1 year nursing experience in any setting except Home Health, Hospice, or School Services, with at least some experience within the last year
- Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
