Job Description:
We are seeking an adaptable and skilled Telemetry Registered Nurse with a strong Progressive Care (PCU) background for a 13-week day-shift travel contract at CHI St. Alexius Health Bismarck Medical Center. This active 32-bed cardiac-focused unit accommodates intermediate stepdown overflow. If you excel at telemetry strip interpretation, drip titration, and thrive in a team-first environment, this role is an excellent fit—plus, first-time travel nurses are welcome to apply!
Facility Details & Unit Highlights:
- Facility: CHI St. Alexius Health Bismarck Medical Center
- Unit: Medical-Surgical Telemetry & Cardiac (PCU Overflow)
- Patient Ratios: 1:4 to 1:5 for standard care | 1:3 for PCU-level acuity assignments
- Support Staff: Dedicated Charge Nurse on shift (who takes minimal or light patient loads) and a 1:10 PCT goal ratio.
- Charting System: Epic preferred
- Dress Code: Open flexibility—any color solid scrubs are accepted!
Key Responsibilities & Scope:
- Care for adult and geriatric cardiac/medical populations undergoing post-cath recovery, pacemaker placement, respiratory support (BiPAP, Airvo, trachs), or sepsis protocols.
- Independently read, interpret, and document telemetry strips at the bedside.
- Safely manage and titrate critical unit drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, and Lasix.
- Float flexibly to adjacent Med/Surg or PCU units as needed to assist with patient workflows.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1–2+ years of recent acute care Telemetry/Cardiac experience with dedicated PCU/Stepdown competencies.
- Active North Dakota or Compact RN License in hand.
- Required Certifications: BLS and ACLS.
- Strict Radius & Affiliation Rule: Permanent address must be 50+ miles away from the campus. Candidates cannot hold active employment (FT, PT, or PRN) anywhere within the CommonSpirit Health network.
- Time-Off Restrictions: Maximum of 7 days of RTO allowed per contract, which must be requested at the time of submission.
