Description

LPN – Oncology Clinic | Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to adult oncology and hematology patients in an outpatient clinic setting.
  • Room patients, obtain vital signs, weight, review of systems, and perform medication reconciliation.
  • Assist providers during patient examinations and minor procedures as a first assist and chaperone.
  • Prepare patients for chemotherapy infusions by obtaining orders, completing chart checks, and coordinating with infusion nurses.
  • Process referrals, communicate patient readiness for treatment, and coordinate follow-up care.
  • Support care for patients undergoing Medical Oncology, Chemotherapy Infusion, Hematology, and Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) pre- and post-transplant treatment.
  • Document patient assessments, treatments, and care coordination accurately in EPIC Ambulatory.
  • Collaborate with oncologists, nurse practitioners, infusion nurses, laboratory staff, and the multidisciplinary care team.
  • Maintain patient safety, provide education, and ensure compliance with clinic policies and oncology care standards.
  • Float between oncology providers and other outpatient clinics as needed.

Required Documents / Certifications

  • Active LPN License
  • BLS Certification
  • Completion of an approved Nursing Education Program
  • Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Oncology nursing experience (required)
  • Current Outpatient Clinic experience
  • EPIC Ambulatory experience (required)
  • Experience assisting providers during examinations and procedures
  • Experience with rooming patients, vital signs, medication reconciliation, chart checks, referrals, and infusion coordination
  • At least one completed 13-week travel assignment (required)
