Description
PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)2 year exp required
Required Certifications
ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA) RN ID/compact license
Shift Notes
10hr shifts with variable start times 0600, 0730, 0800 with minimal call requirements
Experience or "Must Have" Skills
Must Have:
- 1 year of preop experience in outpatient or inpatient
Preferred:
- Willing to train staff on how to assist in nerve blocks and spinal

MID SEPTEMBER START TO COVER MATERNITY LEAVE
Must be able to cross over between POHA/PACU as we are one unit.

Charge Nurse/House Supervisor
- 1 charge over preop/PACU
Are There Nurse Aids on This Unit/Ratios
- CNAs
Typical duties:
- Rooming patients
- CHG bath
- Vitals
- 12-Leads
- Blood draws
- Set room up for nerve blocks
- Clean bays
- Transform beds
EMR
- Epic
Shifts & Scheduling (Do You Allow Self-Scheduling? Block Scheduling?)
- 5:30–4:30
- Four 10-hour shifts
- Random day off per week
- Travelers asked to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent staff
- Does not guarantee block scheduling
- Four-week schedule provided at a time

Floating Requirements
- May be asked to float into the PACU area
- Could be asked to float to other locations such as Nampa, Meridian, and Boise campuses
- Travelers are typically first to float
Scrub Color/Dress Code
- Any color
- No artificial nails; if you have them, you will be asked to remove them
- Can wear a long-sleeve shirt under scrub top, but no jackets
Unit/Department Specific Orientation
- 2 days of general orientation
- Can test out of taking Epic class
- 1–3 days with a preceptor
