Job Overview

  • Position Type: Contract (Travel)
  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery (Women's Services Float Pool)
  • Target Start Date: 07-20-2026
  • Shift: Nights (18:45 - 07:30)
  • Schedule: 4 x 12-hour shifts
  • Weekend & Holiday: Every other weekend. Holidays are generally not scheduled for travelers but occasionally required.
  • On-Call: No call or standby requirements.

     

Location, Facility & Strict Floating Requirements

  • Facilities: St. Luke's Health System (Boise, Meridian, and Nampa campuses). Note: Meridian Medical Center is centrally located for housing considerations.
  • Float Pool Scope: RNs will only float within Women's Services (Antepartum, L&D, and Postpartum).
  • Floating Expectations: * Travelers are the 1st to float.
    • Candidates must be willing to float to any of the 3 facilities (Boise, Meridian, Nampa - all approx. 20 minutes apart).
    • Mid-shift floating is possible based on facility needs.
  • Assignment Notification: Travelers use an app and are notified 1 hour before their shift starts regarding which hospital and unit they are assigned to.
  • Dress Code: Scrubs are provided by the facility.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience strictly required. Must have L&D, Postpartum, and Antepartum experience. (OR circulate experience is preferred).
  • Travel Experience: No first-time travelers.
  • Licensure: Active Idaho (ID) or Compact State RN License.
  • Certifications: * AHA BLS
    • ACLS
    • NRP
    • AWHONN fetal monitoring classes

Clinical Details & Unit Expectations

  • Patient Population: Antepartum (22+ weeks gestation), PPROM, placenta previa, pre-c, diabetes, twins, and high-risk patients.
  • Patient Ratios: 1:6 for couplet care in postpartum (follows AWHONN guidelines).
  • Nursing Duties: * Transition mom and baby independently if the NICU is unavailable.
    • Full couplet assignment and car seat studies in postpartum.
    • Titrate drips (Pitocin 1-40mL/units, Insulin, Magnesium).
    • Use PPV (Positive Pressure Ventilation) equipment.
    • Note: RNs do not have to circulate for c-sections or recover.
  • Unit Support: Charge Nurse on all units. OB Laborist, Neonatologist, and designated CRNA are in-house 24/7. Surgical techs are available (less frequent at night).
