Description

Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH): specializing in medically complex adult patients (typically 18+) requiring extended hospitalization. Common diagnoses include:
Ventilator-dependent and respiratory failure patients
Sepsis and multi-organ dysfunction
Complex post-surgical recovery
Cardiac, neurological, renal, and infectious disease complications
Wound care (including complex wounds and pressure injuries)
Levels of Care:
High-acuity critical care, ICU-level and step-down care
Typical Ratios:
Approximately 1:4–1:6, depends on acuity
Charting System: EPIC
