Position: Level 1 Registered Nurse (Psych RN)
 

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct intake assessments by interviewing patients and family members to obtain medical and behavioral health histories.
• Plan, coordinate, and provide comprehensive nursing care for psychiatric patients.
• Assess patients' medical and emotional conditions, formulate nursing diagnoses, and recommend appropriate treatment interventions.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists and the behavioral health team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Administer psychotropic medications and other prescribed treatments while monitoring and documenting patient responses.
• Coordinate additional medical care and referrals when necessary.
• Educate and support patients in understanding their emotional and behavioral health conditions and treatment plans.
• Help maintain a safe, therapeutic, and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Assess, monitor, and document vital signs and pain levels, ensuring timely intervention as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with physician orders and facility standards.
• Protect patient privacy and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Document treatments, laboratory results, immunizations, and other clinical information according to medical recordkeeping standards.
• Complete administrative tasks, including answering phones, filing, charting, and entering progress notes into the electronic medical record system.
• Deliver courteous, professional, and high-quality customer service to patients, families, and members of the public.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License (Required)
• Minimum of 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience
• Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) Certification
• Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) only
• Strong assessment, communication, documentation, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced behavioral health environment
