Unit Information

• Department: Surgical Services – Orthopedic OR
• 8 Operating Rooms
• Minimum Experience Required: 3 Years
• First-Time Travelers: Accepted Upon Review

Note: Facility leadership will evaluate candidate experience and comfort level across multiple surgical specialties prior to consideration.

Surgical Specialties & Patient Types

The OR supports a wide variety of surgical services including:

• Orthopedics
• General Surgery
• Plastics
• Vascular Surgery
• Urology
• Gynecology (GYN)
• ENT
• Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Robotic Surgery

PPE

• Adequate PPE Provided

Staffing Ratios

RN Staffing

• Day Shift: 1:1–2 per case
• Night Shift: 1:1 per case

Surgical Tech Staffing

• Day Shift: 1:1–2 per case
• Night Shift: 1:1–2 per case

Required Certifications

• BLS

Required Skills

Candidates must have:

• Strong Orthopedic Surgery experience
• Strong General Surgery experience
• Proficiency in scrubbing a variety of surgical cases
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced OR environment
• Experience supporting multiple surgical specialties

Support Available on the Unit

• Charge Nurse (typically without patient assignment)
  • May assist with staffing cases when needed
• Unit Secretary (Day Shift)
• Bedside Telemetry Monitoring
• Phlebotomy Support
• Respiratory Therapy Support
• Hospitalist Coverage 24/7
• On-Call Surgeon Available

Floating Requirements

Floating required between:

• Orthopedic OR
• Main OR

Assignments will be based on departmental needs and staffing rotations.

Orientation

• One Unit Orientation Shift
• Focus on department workflow, processes, and expectations

Scheduling Information

Shift

• Monday–Friday
• 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• 40 Hours Per Week

Weekend Rotation

• On-Call Approximately Every 2 Months

Call Requirements

Weeknight Call

• One weeknight every 2–3 weeks

Weekend Call

• One weekend approximately every 2 months

Holiday Requirements

• One Holiday Per Contract (if applicable)

Time-Off Requests

• Up to 7 Days May Be Approved
