Pharmacy Technician – Contract

Location: San Carlos Apache Healthcare Center, Arizona
Assignment Duration: July 27, 2026 – January 23, 2027 (Approximately 26 Weeks)
Schedule: 40 Hours per Week (8 Hours/Day, 5 Days/Week)

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Pharmacy Technician to join the pharmacy team at San Carlos Apache Healthcare Center. The ideal candidate will assist pharmacists in providing safe, accurate, and efficient pharmaceutical services while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations. This role requires excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
 

Key Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing prescription medications.
• Receive, review, and process medication orders accurately.
• Maintain accurate patient medication profiles and pharmacy records.
• Manage medication inventory, including ordering, stocking, rotating, and removing expired medications.
• Prepare unit-dose medications and IV admixtures (if permitted by state regulations and facility policy).
• Ensure proper storage and handling of medications, including controlled substances.
• Assist with medication reconciliation and patient medication history when required.
• Operate pharmacy information systems and electronic health records efficiently.
• Answer telephone inquiries and provide courteous customer service to patients and healthcare staff.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws, HIPAA regulations, and facility policies.
• Participate in quality assurance initiatives and support pharmacy workflow improvements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy work environment.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program preferred.
• Current Pharmacy Technician registration/licensure as required by the State of Arizona.
• National certification preferred (PTCB or NHA/CPhT).
• Minimum of one (1) year of recent Pharmacy Technician experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
• Experience with electronic pharmacy systems and electronic medical records (EMR).
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, medication safety, and inventory management.

Certifications

• Current Pharmacy Technician License/Registration (Arizona, if applicable)
• PTCB (Certified Pharmacy Technician - CPhT) or NHA certification preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred (if required by facility)
