The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a 20-bed unit, including one isolation room, located adjacent to the Main Operating Room. It operates 24/7 to support both scheduled and emergent cases, providing immediate post-anesthesia care as well as overnight extended recovery for patients awaiting inpatient beds or requiring closer observation.

The PACU cares for patients from pediatrics (12 months) through geriatrics, averaging 30–50 patients daily with a typical stay of 1.5 hours. Care is directed by the anesthesiologist, who oversees recovery and discharge, with surgeons consulted as needed for procedure-related issues. PACU staff focus on individualized recovery plans to help patients return to their pre-op level of function and safely meet discharge criteria. Visitors are limited due to the open environment, though parents/guardians of pediatric patients may remain with their child.
