Registered Nurse (RN) - Wound Care

Location: San Leandro, California
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 40 (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)

Job Summary

• Manage and develop the facility wound care program, including standards of care and practice related to wound, ostomy, and continence patient care needs.
• Provide direct patient care and assist staff nurses.
• Act as a consultative resource to affiliated healthcare agencies and facility staff.
• Establish standards of care, competencies, policies, and procedures for wound care.
• Serve as primary consultant to Wound Care Clinicians and advocate with physicians.
• Educate clinical staff on wound assessment, protocols, and product use.
• Evaluate wounds upon admission and ongoing to determine treatment plans and identify problems early.
• Consult on wounds not showing measurable healing within two weeks and on patients with pressure injuries.
• Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to develop and adjust wound care plans.
• Review medical records to ensure proper documentation and treatment of wounds.
• Investigate adverse wound-related events and develop action plans based on root cause analysis.
• Participate in clinical outcome monitoring, quality data reporting, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Assist with training new Wound Care Coordinators as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Minimum 3 years of wound care experience, including experience within the last year
• Certification in wound care: WOCN, CWS, or WCC
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
