Job Overview
Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel assignment in Bakersfield, California.
The Labor & Delivery RN will provide comprehensive care to mothers throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. Responsibilities include maternal and fetal monitoring, identifying potential complications, patient education, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.
This position requires flexibility, as travelers will be scheduled for both day and night shifts with no block scheduling available.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care throughout labor and delivery.
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being during all phases of labor.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to obstetric emergencies and complications.
- Administer medications and treatments per provider orders and facility protocols.
- Provide patient and family education regarding labor, delivery, recovery, and newborn care.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesia providers, and ancillary staff.
- Accurately document patient care using Cerner Millennium EMR.
- Support postpartum recovery and address psychosocial needs of mothers and families.
- Float as needed based on departmental staffing requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- Active and unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Minimum of 3 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS Certification.
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification.
- AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) Certification.
- AWHONN Maternal Fetal Triage Index (MFTI) Certification.
- Current TB screening, PPD, or Chest X-Ray as required.
- Current Health Clearance as required by facility guidelines.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Knowledge and experience using Cerner Millennium EMR preferred.
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify as a traveler.
Assignment Details
- 13-week travel assignment
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour shifts
- Rotating Days and Nights
- No block scheduling
- Traveler must be willing to float
- Start date approximately 3 weeks from offer acceptance
- No on-call requirement
