Position Overview
Join one of the largest correctional healthcare systems in Arizona! Maricopa County Correctional Services is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to provide quality patient care within the Intake, Transfer & Release (ITR) facility. This assignment offers a fast-paced environment caring for an adult correctional population with both medical and behavioral health needs.
This position is assigned exclusively to the ITR facility—no floating to other jails is required.
Assignment Details
- 13-week contract
- 36 hours per week
- 3 x 12-hour shifts
- Days & Nights Available
- No on-call requirement
- Extensions available
- Overtime available based on critical staffing needs and manager approval
- RTO accepted
- Weekend and holiday rotation required (5 holidays per 12-month period)
Requirements
- Active Arizona RN License or Compact RN License
- BLS Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Previous correctional experience is welcomed but not required
- Must be flexible to work weekends and holidays
- Current N95 Fit Test required before start
RN Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and implement appropriate interventions
- Administer medications and IV therapies
- Perform phlebotomy and basic IV skills
- Monitor patient progress and evaluate outcomes
- Provide patient education
- Complete accurate electronic documentation
- Participate in discharge planning and interdisciplinary care
- Assist with orientation and training of new staff as needed
