Float Pool Coverage
- RNs float within Women's Services only:
- Antepartum
- Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- Postpartum
- Full patient assignments in all areas.
- May float to any regional facility:
- Boise
- Meridian
- Nampa
Staffing Ratios
- Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines.
- Postpartum: 1:6 couplet care ratio.
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring
- STABLE preferred (required for permanent staff)
Patient Population
Antepartum
- ≥22 weeks gestation
- High-risk pregnancies
Labor & Delivery
- PPROM
- Placenta previa
- Preeclampsia
- Diabetes
- Twins
- High-risk obstetric patients
Postpartum
- Full couplet care assignments
- Car seat studies
- Transition of mother and baby when NICU is unavailable
Experience Requirements
Required
- Minimum 3 years recent experience
- Labor & Delivery
- Postpartum
- Antepartum
- Comfortable with high-risk OB patients
- Able to titrate drips
- Excellent communication skills
- Understand chain of command
- Resource utilization and advocacy
Preferred
- OR circulating for C-sections

Charge Nurse
- Charge nurse available on every shift and every unit.

Respiratory/Neonatal Support
- RN provides PPV only
- NICU team attends deliveries
- Neonatologist available 24/7 (at least one site with rapid response capability)
Physician Coverage

- OB Laborist available 24/7
Neonatology
- Available 24/7
Anesthesia
- Dedicated CRNA available 24/7
Telemetry/Monitoring
- No tele techs on Women's Services.
- Cardiac telemetry monitored by Tele Techs when applicable.
- Fetal monitoring follows standard obstetric processes.
Scheduling
Shifts
- Days: 0645–1930
- Nights: 1845–0730
- Four 12-hour shifts/week
Self-Scheduling
- Not available
- Shift trades permitted
- Manager may adjust schedules based on staffing needs
- Submit RTO before assignment
Weekend Requirement
- Every other weekend (not to exceed unit standard)
Holiday Requirement
- Travelers generally not scheduled
- May be required occasionally based on staffing
Call Requirement
- None
Float Process
- Travelers are first to float.
- Assignment available via staffing app approximately 1 hour before shift.
- May float:
- Between units
- Between Boise, Meridian, and Nampa facilities
- At any point during the shift based on census
Facility Information
- Hospitals are approximately 20 minutes apart.
- Easy interstate access.
- Safe parking at all facilities.
Scrubs
- Hospital-provided scrubs.
Orientation
Approximately 4–5 department-specific shifts, including:
- 1 shift – Nampa (L&D/Postpartum workflow)
- 1 shift – Meridian
- 1 shift – Boise
- 1 partial shift – Boise Antepartum
- Orientation includes exposure to:
- Labor & Delivery
- Antepartum
- Postpartum
- OR workflow
