Job Details:
Position: Registered Nurse IR
Specialty: Radiology Nursing / Interventional Radiology
Schedule: Days | 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Start Date: July 27, 2026
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Patient Care Area: 5 Patient Bays
Call Requirement: Rotating Call Required
- Monday–Friday: 6:00 PM – 11:00 PM
- Saturday/Sunday: 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Weekend Requirement: As Needed
Holiday Requirement: Required
Travel Experience: Required
Radius: No local candidates within 50 miles
Job Summary:
The Radiology Staff Nurse (IR RN) provides high-quality nursing care to inpatient and outpatient populations within the Radiology Department, including pediatric, adult, geriatric, acute, and chronically ill patients. The Radiology Nurse supports patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional procedures while ensuring safety, comfort, privacy, and dignity.
This role requires strong assessment skills, critical care knowledge, emergency response capability, and experience assisting with radiology procedures requiring nursing expertise, including conscious sedation and medication administration.
Requirements:
✅ Travel nursing experience required
✅ Active Massachusetts RN License
✅ BLS Certification required
✅ ACLS Certification required
✅ Minimum 3–5 years of nursing experience
✅ Critical Care experience required
✅ Strong IV skills and aseptic technique knowledge
✅ Experience with conscious sedation and procedural nursing preferred
Responsibilities:
✅Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process and departmental protocols.
✅Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after radiology procedures.
✅Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and patient responses to treatment.
✅Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
✅Assess, document, and assist with treatment of contrast reactions.
✅Assist radiologists during interventional procedures and special treatments.
✅Administer conscious sedation and monitor patients according to protocol.
✅Administer medications and IV therapies as ordered.
✅Provide care continuity for critically ill and high-risk patients.
✅Operate and monitor specialized equipment, including:
- Cardiac monitors
- Infusion pumps
- Oxygen equipment
- Ventilators
✅Maintain accurate documentation of patient status and nursing interventions.
✅Educate patients and families regarding procedures, preparation, and aftercare.
✅Maintain patient confidentiality, safety, and compliance with identification protocols.
