Description

Labor & Delivery / Postpartum Registered Nurse – Nights

  • Schedule: 3x12 Nights (18:45 - 07:15) | 13 Weeks | 36 Hours Guaranteed | No Block Scheduling
  • Weekend Requirements: Every Other Weekend (EOW). For the night shift, weekend coverage spans Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  • The Floor (Family Birthing Center): A cozy, low-risk unit with 4 Labor & Delivery beds and 8 Mother-Baby beds, averaging around 45 deliveries per month. Standard deliveries involve a dedicated team of 2 RNs and 1 Respiratory Therapist. Hospital-provided scrubs are supplied on-site.
  • Patient Care Ratios: L&D runs at 1:2 (or 1:1 for active deliveries). Mother-Baby couplet care runs at 1:4.
  • Systems & Orientation: Cerner EMR. Crucial Notice: Hospital orientation is held off-site in Sacramento, CA, not at the Grass Valley facility. Floor orientation includes 2–3 shifts with a dedicated preceptor.

Submission Hardstops

  • Experience Baseline: Minimum 2 years of current Labor & Delivery experience is required.
  • Reference Mandate [AT SUBMISSION]: Must provide 2 supervisory/charge nurse references at the exact time of profile submission (1 must be within the past 12 months, and the second within the past 3 years).
  • Licensure: Active California (CA) RN license.
  • Required Certifications [HARDSTOP]:
    • AHA BLS
    • ACLS
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM) (STABLE certification is preferred).
  • Clinical Independence: Must be highly proficient in navigating medical emergencies independently. Resources and in-house personnel are significantly limited during the night shift (OB and Anesthesia are strictly on-call overnight).
  • Holiday Policy: Candidates must work 2 out of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's). Holiday time-off requests may be reviewed but are absolutely not guaranteed.
  • Cancellation Policy: The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts over the course of the 13-week contract.

 

Clinical Framework & Floating Scope of Care: Handles standard, full-term, and stable preterm labor, postpartum couplets, and general GYN surgical patients. The unit does not retain high-risk patients; mothers at 34 weeks gestation or below are stabilized and transferred out. Newborn care includes IV antibiotics and short-term oxygen therapy. Floating Protocol: Designated as "First to Float" dynamically, though floating remains internal/restricted to core L&D or Mother-Baby units based on daily unit volume. 👉 Apply now for clinical prescreening and direct manager review within 24 hours!
