Description
UNIT: ER
Simpli Fi interview. Manager final approval.
Exp Req: 2 years of recent ER experience. Critical Access experience strongly preferred. Would prefer some Med Surg experience as well. First time traveler accepted
Certs Req: BLS, ACLS, PALS required. TNCC, STABLE, NRP preferred.
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: All ages. Can have Peds on the inpatient unit, but this is rare and they are low acuity. COPD exacerbation, diabetes, behavioral health, chest pain, URI, UTI, traumas, strokes. This is a CAH, so travelers will care for both ER AND MedSurg patients. RN will be assigned ER and MedSurg patients. If there is a code or emergent situation, RNs will respond and CNA will cover the unit until they return. 1-2 times per month will be assigned endoscopy recovery. Patients receive propofol for procedure and recovery is usually pretty quick (on the inpatient unit). If no experience, will be taught here. No respiratory therapy – RNs will give all updraft treatments. If patient is needing bipap, they are likely being transferred out. No vented patients on the floor; vented patients will be transferred out from the ER
Skills required: IV starts, NG tube insertion/maintenance, comfortable in a code situation, assisting with intubations, mixing meds, wound care, dressing changes, wound vacs, ER triage, foley insertion and care, stabilizing trauma patients, MI/STEMI/Stroke protocols and stabilization (will be transferred out), reading EKGs/tele strips

Floating: Only within facility between the units here
