Job Title: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Start Date: August 3, 2026
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3x12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to join UnityPoint – Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI. The RN will provide high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill and premature newborns while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Candidates should have strong NICU experience, proficiency with Epic EMR, and the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced clinical environment.
The traveler may be required to float within the same nursing discipline across local campuses as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and premature neonates.
- Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions using Epic EMR.
- Administer medications and IV drips, including epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Respond promptly to changes in patient conditions and medical emergencies.
- Educate and support families throughout the patient's hospitalization.
- Adhere to hospital policies, patient safety standards, and infection control protocols.
Schedule
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirement
Requirements
- Active Wisconsin RN License or Compact RN License.
- Minimum of 2 years of NICU experience.
- At least one completed travel nursing assignment.
- Current BLS (AHA) Certification.
- Current NRP Certification.
- Epic EMR experience required.
Experience administering epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine.
