Qualifications:

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Education and/or Experience:                                           

·         Graduate of an approved School of Nursing required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

·         Minimum of one (1) year of previous experience in obstetric nursing required.

·         Experience in: Maternal / Fetal Assessment; Newborn Assessment; Postpartum Care

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

·         Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Idaho or approved compact state licensure.

·         Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required upon hire.

·         Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required upon hire or within one year of employment.

Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for:

·      Safety, including universal precautions and safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management, and security, report and/or correct unsafe working conditions, equipment repair and maintenance needs. Uses appropriate Safety and Infection Control measures.

·      Confidentiality of all data, including patient, employee, and operations data.

·      Quality Assurance and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

·      Compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.

·      Comply with all federal and state regulatory standards applicable to employee’s department and job function.

·      Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures and regulations; e.g.; HIPAA, Medicare Fraud and Abuse, OSHA.

 

Supports and participates in common teamwork:

·      Cooperates and works together with all co-workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment.

·      Uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations.

·      Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers, or patients regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns.

·      Promotes positive public relations with patients, family members, and guests.

·      Is knowledgeable of patient rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity and well-being of all patients in a safe, secure environment.

·      Completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, uniform and dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties as assigned.
