Registered Nurse (RN) – Immunization Nurse (Float) | Vaccination Initiative
Location: Bakersfield, California (Onsite)
Facility: CVS Health Retail Pharmacy
Employment Type: Full-Time Contract
Contract Duration: August 2026 – November 2026 (Approx. 568 Hours)
Schedule: Sunday – Saturday (Flexible Schedule) | 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM | 40 Hours/Week
Position Overview
CVS Health is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Vaccination Initiative as an Immunization Nurse Float. This patient-facing role is responsible for safely administering a variety of vaccines, including Influenza, COVID-19, MMR, and other CDC-recommended immunizations, while delivering exceptional patient care in a retail healthcare environment.
The ideal candidate is clinically skilled, adaptable, and passionate about promoting community health through preventive care.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer vaccines including Influenza, COVID-19, MMR, and other recommended immunizations.
- Assess patients before vaccination and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Follow CDC, state, and company immunization protocols and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and vaccination records.
- Educate patients regarding vaccine benefits, possible side effects, and post-vaccination care.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and safety standards.
- Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by CVS Health.
- Collaborate with pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and store leadership to ensure efficient clinic operations.
- Deliver outstanding patient care with professionalism, empathy, and compassion.
- Adapt to varying patient volumes, clinic workflows, and scheduling needs.
- Support community vaccination initiatives and public health programs.
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, including immunization or vaccine administration.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong medication administration and clinical assessment skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced retail healthcare environment.
- Candidate must not be listed on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
- High School Diploma or GED (verification required).
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous retail clinic or vaccination clinic experience.
- Experience administering high-volume immunization programs.
- Strong patient education and customer service skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, based on business needs.
Schedule
- Shift: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Days: Sunday through Saturday (flexible scheduling)
- Hours: 40 hours per week
