Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Travel Position
Location: Lynnwood, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Weekly Hours: 40 hours
Weekend Hours: Once a month
Call Requirements: None
Job Summary
Provide occupational therapy services primarily to adult and geriatric patients in a medical rehabilitation setting. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, and implement therapy interventions, monitor patient progress, and participate in patient and family education.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Washington
- Minimum 1 year of Speech Language Pathologist experience, including experience within the last year
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Current BLS certification
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs and initiate appropriate occupational therapy interventions
- Supervise Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians, and students as needed
- Evaluate treatment effectiveness and recommend changes to physicians when necessary
- Perform patient reassessments and quality improvement scoring according to policy
- Manage patient pain and make appropriate interventions or physician contacts
- Maintain patient safety and reduce healthcare errors during care delivery
- Document patient progress, goals, and interdisciplinary care plans accurately and timely
- Participate in patient/family and team conferences
- Maintain professional relationships within and outside the department
- Assist with orientation, in-service training, and performance improvement initiatives
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and departmental policies
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and organizational values
Patient Population
- Adult and geriatric patients requiring medical rehabilitation
- Common diagnoses include stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury, and debility
Work Environment
- Rehabilitation unit with approximately 40 beds
- Electronic Health Records systems: EPIC and Rehab Connect
- Dress code: Black scrubs
Additional Information
- Must report between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM on the first day
- Cooperative personality with a desire to be a team player is essential
- Weekend work required once per month
- No float or call requirements
