Surgical Technologist (OR Tech) – 10-Hour Varied Days

• Schedule: 10-Hour Varied Days | Variable start times between 06:00 and 09:00 | 40 Hours Guaranteed (4x10s)
• Assignment Length: 13-Week Contract (Note: The facility heavily prefers 26-week contracts).
• On-Call & Weekends: Regular shifts are Monday – Friday only (no regular evening or weekend shifts). Call is required at 1 shift per week and every 4th weekend. Holidays are covered by the call rotation.
• Orientation Structure: 12 non-billable orientation hours. Includes 1 week of administrative/paperwork orientation followed by 1 week partnered on-floor with a clinical preceptor.
• Cancellation Policy: The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
• Perks: Scrub uniforms are fully provided by the facility. Floating is not required.

Submission Hardstops [STRICT & NON-NEGOTIABLE]

• Experience Baseline [HARDSTOP]: Minimum 2 years of solid Operating Room (OR) experience is required. The facility maintains highly particular, precise processes within its surgical suites.
• EMR Familiarity: Highly prefer candidates with direct Cerner Surginet electronic charting experience.
• Required Certifications & Health Mandates [IN-HAND]:
  • Active BLS Certification (AHA preferred).
  • Documented COVID Vaccine Certification is strictly required by the facility.

Unit Profile & Clinical Scope

• Surgical Footprint: A high-volume surgical department operating 4 beds in the Main OR and 8 beds in the Pavilion. The department averages 15–25 cases per day (~400 cases per month), with roughly 20–25% requiring inpatient admission.
• Case Mix & Assignments:
  • Main OR: Heavy emphasis on comprehensive Orthopedic cases, including all total joints (hips, knees, shoulders).
  • Pavilion: Focuses on Neuro and Ortho Spine, General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, and ENT.
  • Specialized Cases: Cardiovascular (CV) and Robotic procedures are active on this unit; however, travel techs will only be assigned to these if they have documented, proven experience.
• Team Dynamics: 1:1 care ratios where nurses circulate (scrubbing capability is a plus for RNs, but techs drive the sterile field). All anesthesia is managed directly by Anesthesiologists (no CRNAs present). Critical patients bypass standard recovery and transfer directly to the ICU.
• Leadership Flow: A dedicated Charge Nurse is present on every shift who does not take an active case assignment.
