Description
- Title- Pediatri
- c Cardiac ICU (CVICU)
- Shift: Rotating / Variable (0645–1845 and 1845–0645) | 36 Hours/Week
- Schedule Cycle: Every 6 weeks
- On-Call / Call-Back: Yes (required)
- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend or fewer as needed (Fri/Sat/Sun)
- Holiday Requirements: Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
- Floating: Yes (will float to PICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics as needed)
- Interview Process: Fast-track profile review (No clinical interview; manager will review and conduct the direct interview)

- Traveler Radius Rule: Permanent address must be 50+ miles away from the home facility.
Key Responsibilities & Patient Care
- Provide 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1 acuity-based care to a highly critical pediatric population (ages 0–18).
- Manage patients with congenital heart differences undergoing surgical or medical management (pre- and post-transplant).
- Deliver post-intervention care for s/p Cath Lab patients.
- Manage highly advanced cardiac support devices including ECMO, Impella, Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs), Dialysis, and Aquadex (Renal Replacement Therapy).
- Utilize EPIC charting, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell dispensing, and Phillips monitors.
Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of dedicated Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience in a high-acuity facility.
- First-Time Travelers: Warmly welcomed with strong, matching high-acuity CVICU experience.
- Certifications Required: BLS, PALS, and NIHSS.
- Core Competencies:
- Proven experience with fresh post-op open-heart patients and transplant care.
- Competency with Aquadex, Impella, and ECMO.
- Strong readiness to float to PICU (this will be discussed during the interview).
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records (required).

This 247-bed teaching hospital is a designated Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, Certified Stroke Center, and Chest Pain Center. The CVICU prides itself on a supportive, high-trust unit culture centered on teamwork and mutual accountability.
While on shift, you will be fully supported by an extensive, 24/7 multi-disciplinary team:
- 24/7 on-unit Cardiologist & Intensivist
- Free-floating Charge Nurse & free-floating Resource Nurse to assist with workflow
- In-house IV / Vascular Access Team (VAT)
- 24/7 Respiratory Therapy (RT)
- 1 Health Care Tech per day to support unit secretary duties and bedside nursing needs (bathing, running labs, etc.)
- Centralized and bedside telemetry monitoring (no dedicated monitor tech)
