Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Schedule: 36 hours per week | All Night Shifts | Every Other Weekend | Rotating Holidays
Job Summary
Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Job Responsibilities
- Administers patient care under the direction of a physician.
- Identifies and pursues expected patient outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Reports and records the plan of care, nursing care provided, and patient response to treatment.
- Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
- Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs.
- Consults appropriate resources regarding patients with complex care issues, specialized teaching needs, and high-risk discharge planning.
- Collaborates with peers in a clinical operations environment while promoting effective intra/interdepartmental communication.
- Synthesizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for patient care, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of patients and families.
- Communicates with patients and families to develop and update the plan of care using cultural competency and active listening.
- Builds relationships with patients and families that promote advocacy and support.
- Develops clinical and operational excellence through education and training.
- Promotes a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment while following infection prevention and standard precautions.
- Maintains competency in required clinical skills and completes annual competency assessments.
- Adheres to hospital policies, procedures, and processes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in North Carolina or a compact state by the start of clinical care.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Preferred:
- Minimum one (1) year of Registered Nurse experience in an acute care/inpatient hospital setting.
Additional Information:
- Some units may require ACLS certification prior to providing patient care.
- Training and certification opportunities may be provided.
