Travel Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Location: Meriden, Connecticut
Assignment Length: 12 Weeks
Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Stepdown
Shift: Nights – 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (3 x 12-hour shifts)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse for a 12-week travel assignment in Connecticut. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care to patients requiring close monitoring and specialized nursing interventions in a fast-paced stepdown environment. This role requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and the ability to manage patients with complex medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring progressive or stepdown level care.
Perform ongoing patient assessments and monitor changes in clinical condition.
Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to telemetry findings.
Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other prescribed treatments.
Monitor and manage patients with complex medical and cardiac conditions.
Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning.
Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes using the electronic medical record.
Maintain compliance with patient safety standards, infection prevention protocols, and hospital policies.
Requirements
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Stepdown experience required.
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required.
Previous Epic EMR experience required.
Strong telemetry interpretation, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Assignment Highlights
12-week travel assignment.
Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
No on-call requirement.
