Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) is responsible for managing a caseload using evidence-based, person-centered practices to develop, implement, and coordinate occupational therapy programs. This role includes screening, evaluation, and treatment services that help clients develop functional skills and achieve therapeutic goals.

The OTR/L independently manages treatment plans, selects appropriate therapeutic activities, and provides services through direct, monitored, and consultative approaches. The therapist is expected to maintain 75% productivity while delivering high-quality, ethical care that always prioritizes the best interests of the client.

 

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Services

  • Provide occupational therapy screenings, evaluations, assessments, and treatment services.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client needs.
  • Deliver direct therapy services in a 1:1 medical model setting.
  • Monitor client progress and ensure treatment goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Conduct and complete assessments, track due dates, and maintain treatment plans and authorizations.
  • Select and implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Utilize skills and techniques consistent with:
    • AOTA Scope of Practice
    • AOTA Standards of Practice
    • Facility policies and procedures
  • Conduct various assessments as clinically appropriate.
  • Provide therapy through a variety of therapeutic activities.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living, including:
    • Dressing
    • Toileting
    • Personal hygiene
    • Feeding and nutrition-related needs

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete all documentation accurately and within required timelines.
  • Maintain records in compliance with facility policies and federal regulations, including:
    • Daily treatment notes
    • Evaluations and assessments
    • Treatment plans
    • Physician orders
    • Client communications
    • Parent communications
    • Progress reports
  • Ensure all therapy documentation meets regulatory and organizational standards.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
  • Share client progress and concerns with appropriate staff on a daily basis.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, including rehabilitation rounds and treatment team discussions.
  • Collaborate with treatment team members to support client success.
  • Guide treatment team members in implementing and carrying over OT goals within client PODs.
  • Promote understanding of the occupational therapy role among families and staff.

Leadership & Supervision

  • Provide clinical supervision and leadership to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA/Ls).
  • Mentor and support newly hired staff members.
  • Conduct formal and informal coaching and training.
  • Provide staff in-service training as assigned or requested.
  • Assist with interviewing and selecting candidates for positions within the OT department.

Facility & Safety Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe therapy environment.
  • Organize and sanitize therapy equipment and treatment areas.
  • Assist in maintaining facility safety and cleanliness.
  • Redirect, observe, monitor, and appropriately respond to client behaviors.
  • Report safety concerns immediately to the Safety Director or direct supervisor.
  • Attend and actively participate in required meetings and trainings.
  • Complete all required technical and professional development training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

HIPAA & Data Privacy Responsibilities

As an Occupational Therapist Registered and Licensed with the State of Minnesota (OTR/L), you will have access to Protected Health Information (PHI). You are responsible for:

  • Understanding and complying with all Partners in Excellence Privacy Policies and Procedures.
  • Protecting client privacy both at work and outside the workplace.
  • Reporting any suspected privacy violations to your supervisor or the designated Privacy Official.
  • Maintaining compliance with HIPAA and all applicable confidentiality regulations.

 

Work Environment

The Occupational Therapist Registered and Licensed with the State of Minnesota (OTR/L) will work throughout Partners in Excellence's center-based programs, including therapy areas and other designated service locations.

Based on organizational needs, the OTR/L may be required to transfer between centers or service locations.

 

Productivity Requirement: 75% billable/direct-service productivity

Primary Focus: Deliver ethical, evidence-based occupational therapy services that maximize client independence, functional outcomes, and quality of life.

Charting System:

Central Reach for all documentation and scheduling

Client Interview Required:

Yes

Client Interview Details:

Will interview with Center Manager + HR Team

Prefer in-person interview but also open to virtual interview if needed

 

Submission Requirements:

Resume, OT License

 

Minimum Experience and Certification Required:

$36.40-$50.23/hour - depending on experience

Must be registered OT/have WI OT License or be graduating with degree in OT and be able to get license quickly
