Location: Akron, OH
Facility: Acute Care Hospital
Department: 7 West (7W) – Medical/Surgical (Respiratory Unit)
Job Type: Long-Term Contract
Contract Duration: August 16, 2026 – November 14, 2026
Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (12-Hour Shifts)

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join a fast-paced 28-bed Respiratory Medical/Surgical Unit specializing in the care of patients with respiratory illnesses, tracheostomies, and chronic ventilator support. The ideal candidate will have strong Med/Surg experience, excellent assessment skills, and be comfortable caring for high-acuity respiratory patients in a collaborative team environment.
This is an interview-required position with an immediate start for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult Medical/Surgical patients.
- Provide specialized care for patients with respiratory disorders, tracheostomies, and chronic ventilators.
- Perform patient assessments, administer medications, and monitor treatment plans.
- Draw blood and perform routine phlebotomy procedures.
- Accurately document patient care using Epic EMR.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Respond effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining patient safety.
- Float to other units as required based on staffing needs.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies and nursing standards.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN License (State license or compact license, as applicable).
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited Nursing Program.
- Minimum 2 years of recent Medical/Surgical RN experience.
- Recent experience caring for tracheostomy and chronic ventilator patients.
- Minimum 2 years of recent phlebotomy (blood draw) experience.
- Recent Epic EMR experience within the last 12 months.
- Current BLS Certification (AHA).
- Ability to work in patient ratios of 1:5–6.
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced hospital setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- LTACH (Long-Term Acute Care Hospital) experience.
- Strong respiratory patient care background.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Schedule Requirements
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Must work every other weekend.
- Floating is required.
- No block scheduling requests accepted.
Submission Requirements
- Resume must clearly demonstrate:
- Recent Epic EMR experience (within the last 12 months).
- Recent phlebotomy/blood draw experience (within the last 12 months).
- Interview is mandatory before offer.
- Please provide candidate availability for interviews at the time of submission.
- Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted.
- No RTO allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment.
- Candidates requesting more than 7 days of RTO or block scheduling will not be considered.
