JOB DESCRIPTION
Kenosha - MRI
● About Facility
o Kenosha, WI
o Level IV Trauma Center
o Primary Stroke Center
o Bed: 74
● General Information
o Experience: 1-2 years, outpatient experience accepted with a strong exam mix skill set
o First-time traveler: will accept first time travelers if they have significant experience with strong and recent Siemens experience
● Patient Types:
o Inpatient/Outpatient/ED patients in need of MRI services
o Primarily adult focused population. Will seed peds only if they are able to cooperate and hold still (mostly ED patients)
o 3T: prostate, abd, pelvis, MRCP
o 1.5T: extremity, brain, spine
o Try to avoid less common scan on weekends such as breast and cardiac unless the tech is comfortable
● Required Certifications:
o BLS, ARRT-MR or ARMRIT
o No state license for MRI techs
● Skills required
o Basic MR principles and practices, use and comfort level with MR safety practices
o Good screening habits and ability to follow policies for implant workups
o Peripheral IV starts w/IV contrast injection skills, implant workup knowledge
o SIEMENS 1.5 and 3T experience with strong comfort level
o Soft Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills, empathy, good team player, sharing workload and ancillary tasks
● Support on the Unit:
o Department Supervisor
o Imaging patient assistant/transporter is staffed on weekends to help support changing patients, screening help, patient assistance on/off table, transport to ED/inpts, room turnover and unit efficiency
o How many other MRI Techs are scheduled each shift? Typically 2 techs and 1 IPA running two scanners
o Is there a Lead Tech? lead tech M-F, mostly independent work for the weekend staff
o Is the radiologist on site reading 24/7? Virtual radiologist support 24/7. Communication mostly through teams or phone
o Yes, outpatients are escalated to 1st response team (ED mostly responds) and inpt/ED are Rapid response team (inpt nurse/hospitalist, ect.)...different teammates respond, Code team too with all the support!
● Charting System/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o MRI IV Pumps: use wave guide to run tubing and keep non-MRI safe pumps in the control room
o PACS: McKesson/Change Healthcare
o Unit equipment: Siemens Sola 1.5T and Siemens Skyra 3T scanners (both required)
o Utilize Deep Resolve (AI) software to help reduced scan times
● Floating:
o no
● Orientation:
o 1-2 shifts
● Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: once per month for non-weekend roles
▪ Every weekend for weekend role
o Will they be on call? If so, what is that schedule? Yes, dept rotation
▪ Rotation of 8 techs, rotation is shared equally with a mix of weekdays and weekends
▪ 30 minute response time
o Holiday Expectations: one holiday per agency tech during their contract. Holidays are covered with on call coverage for 24 hours
o Scrub Color: Any
o Parking: Free
