RN – Inpatient Rehabilitation | Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in an acute inpatient rehabilitation unit.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized rehabilitation care plans.
• Care for patients recovering from stroke, trauma, orthopedic injuries, neurological conditions, and other disabling illnesses.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, antibiotics, and Heparin drips (transitioning to Coumadin) as prescribed.
• Monitor patient progress, functional status, and changes in condition while promoting recovery and independence.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rehabilitation team conferences with physicians, PT, OT, and Speech Therapy.
• Administer respiratory treatments such as nebulizers and inhalers; collaborate with Respiratory Therapy for CPAP/BiPAP management.
• Educate patients and families on rehabilitation goals, medications, mobility, safety, and discharge planning.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Cerner EMR.
• Float to Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units as needed based on staffing requirements.
• Serve as Charge Nurse when assigned and supervise patient care activities.

Required Documents / Certifications

• Active RN License
• BLS (AHA)
• Recent Inpatient Rehabilitation experience or
• Medical-Surgical experience with previous travel experience
• Experience caring for stroke, orthopedic, trauma, and neurological patients
• Cerner experience (preferred)
